Car Seats and Child Restraint Devices as Checked Baggage
Flair accepts car seats and restraint systems as checked baggage.
If passengers are travelling with an infant (under 2 years old), they may check in two complimentary items, such as:
- Stroller
- Car seat
- Playpen
- Portable highchair
Passengers are encouraged to appropriately package their car seats and restraint devices to prevent damage.
Car Seats and Child Restraint Devices Onboard
A child restraint device may be permitted for use on board for an infant when a separate seat has been purchased for that infant or for a small child up to the maximum size restrictions of the applicable child restraint device.
Please note the following:
- If you wish to use a car seat or restraint device for an infant, you must purchase an additional seat. Please see our article on infant seating for booking instructions.
- Car seats must be an approved car seat or restraint device per the requirements below.
- Infants are restricted from occupying specific seats on the aircraft.
- Flair does not provide car seats.
- A “statement of compliance” label must be affixed stating the car seat has been certified to meet any of the design standards accepted by Transport Canada. Please click here for compliant design standards.
Car Seats and Child Restraint Devices Not Permitted Onboard
- Booster cushions
- Booster seats (including combination restraint system CMVSS 213.2 when used without the five-point harness)
- Belly or loop belts
- Infant carriers (such as Snugli®)
- Baby hammock (such as FlyeBaby™)
Acceptable Styles for Onboard Use
- Rear-facing car seats
- Forward-facing car seats
- Convertible (forward or rear-facing) car seats
- Combination car seats
- AmSafe child aviation restraint system “CARES™”
Any of the above car seat or restraint device styles must have a legible “statement of compliance” label affixed stating the car seat has been certified to meet any of the design standards accepted by Transport Canada.
